Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in power within the city.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might seem mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
First, the group knows exactly where to head next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, striking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.
Casimir then settled his debts and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, desires retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the team reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter pledged a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
From episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Seekers and Strategists groups.
Viewers can expect learning which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
